What’s Better, A Facebook Fan Page or a Facebook Group?
Juli CamarinThe most common question I get asked concerning social media on Facebook is what is better, a group or a fan page. I have pondered this time and time again myself. Both have benefits but where should your time and energy be spent concerning social networking? Below is a short comparison between features.

Facebook Fan Pages are the most popular form of utilizing social networking in a marketing plan because they are indexed on search engines and visible to unregistered members. They can also have customized URLs like http://www.facebook.com/cocacola as opposed to a long string of unfriendly text. You can host discussions, forums, applications, member messaging, videos and photos as well as collect visitor statistics on visits and posts. You can even create promotional ads directing traffic to your facebook page. Fan Pages are generally better for long-term relationships with your fans, readers or customers.

Facebook Groups are a great viral marketing tool because they allow you to send out bulk invites to all of your FB friends inviting them to join. In the same way your friends can then send out bulk invites to their friends and so on creating a flurry of activity across Facebook. Like an FB Fan Page you can also host discussions, forums and messaging to your members, but unlike Fan Pages you cannot collect visitor statistics or promote with social ads. Groups are generally better for hosting a quick active discussion and attracting swift attention.

So, in my opinion, facebook pages are the best way to promote your business. They are flexible and customizable and create a long term relationship with your fans. If you agree, why not become a fan of AMT2 on facebook? Just visit us at www.facebook.com/amttwo!
