Adding Rotating Images on Your Website is as Easy as 1, 2, 3! Juli Camarin A visually attractive website is a plus in today's saturated marketplace. Creating an online presence which stands out, is functional and delivers results is no easy task. However, a well thought out design and layout is a great place to start. One thing I have found that accomplishes both visual stimulation and functionality on a website is to utilize a rotating images plugin. Today, I am reviewing a 2Cool plugin called Carousel.
Carousel is a rotating image plugin that gives lots of options on how your information is displayed on the page. These options range from a picture that rotates every few seconds to a tabbed arrangement highlighting different information simultaneously. This plugin is useful for more than just pictures. Information, events and announcements are a few of the things that can be used in this display. The choices are endless when it comes to creating a unique format for displaying your information.
One of the best features of this plugin is that it pulls its content directly from the pages in your website. Since this plugin is utilized in a robust content management system, publish and unpublish dates can be set for each page. This is a huge benefit for time sensitive material or special promotions. For instance, let's say your website is promoting your upcoming show. Since users expect up to date information when they visit your site, you can highlight the current night's show and as soon as it is over, the publish information that you have previously specified takes effect. It unpublishes that day's show and then the next event takes the top spot in the rotating carousel. You only have to set it up once and the backend does the work.
I love using this plugin for the sites I create because it offers the chance to keep the site looking fresh. Just switching out a rotating image once a month with an internal link to an announcement or blog article keeps the site interesting. At AMT2 we even feature this on our own homepage highlighting our products, services, and special areas of the website to which we want to direct people. It literally takes me seconds to place a new ad on our homepage after it is created. It's fast, it's easy and it's as simple as 1, 2, 3!
Here is a photo gallery of various sites that we have created using this plugin. The links are listed below. Feel free to peruse the gallery and check out the sites to see the multiple ways this plugin can work for you. Next Month we will be reviewing: Mobile Websites
Business has changed with the invention of the Smartphone. Just the other day while sitting in a meeting at a customer's site trying to schedule the follow up meeting, every single person in the room jumped on their Smartphone to check availability and schedules. Even while pulling up the calendar app on my hot pink Blackberry Tour I suddenly realized how instant our society is. Shortly after this occurrence while sitting in our biweekly staff meeting, I glanced around the room at the ACES engineers and noticed that 90% of them where busy checking their email, surfing the net or updating their facebook status as they waited for the meeting to begin. Just a few years ago you wouldn't have seen this, but now this Smartphone behavior is commonplace... Read more
